How and why to build an email list

Posted under Internet Marketing, List Building, Uncategorized

Even if you’re new to Internet marketing, you’ve heard the same old saying a thousand times. The money is in the list. List marketing is probably the most powerful way to create a profitable home based business. You can’t afford to ignore this powerful approach.

Why it works

In most cases, people need to see a marketing message more than once before they’re persuaded to make a purchase. Repeated encounters are a key to generating sales. You have the chance to share your messages repeatedly with those who are a part of your list.

Additionally, people are more prone to spend their money with people the trust and know. List marketing gives you a chance to develop a relationship with the people on your list. That increases your credibility, producing more sales.

How to do it

Building a list is a rock-solid way to take advantage of a good home based business opportunities online, and it beings with a single simple page – the squeeze page. A squeeze page is a landing page designed with a single purpose. It should convince readers to sign up for your list. Everything else is irrelevant.

Most of the time, people encourage sign ups by offering a free gift to new subscribers. This is a proven strategy that you can use to spur the success of your business.

It’s not enough to have a good freebie, though. Building a squeeze page the right way is just as important. There are certain squeeze page strategies that produce the best results. You should be using those moneymaking approaches. That will involve closely following three important guidelines.

Squeeze page basics

First, keep your squeeze page free of any links leading to other sites of pages. You don’t want to provide your prospective customers with an “escape route” or distractions that may reduce conversions.

Second, you’ll need to write a short, powerful message. You want to make your offer of an inducement attractive and you don’t want to dilute that point with extraneous verbiage. Don’t forget that your squeeze page only has one purpose – to build a list. Every word on the page should serve that function.

Third, you need to treat the sign up process like a sale – you must “close the deal”. That means that you will need to make a strong, persuasive call to action as part of your sign up form. Make it clear to readers that they’ll benefit from the simple, free act of filling out your subscriber form.

Summary

If you follow those three recommendations and offer an attractive freebie, you’ll be well on your way to building a list. You’ll have the chance to build good relationships with your potential customers. It will also allow you to reach them with your marketing messages on multiple occasions.

Online list building is a powerful way to improve your Internet marketing performance. The fact that so many successful marketers embrace list building isn’t an accident. The money really is in the list!

Email List Building Strategies

Posted under Internet Marketing, List Building

Honestly, everyone making money online has an email list. It’s the number one key to opening the success floodgates. Because you can market to your list whenever you want. Just push a button and print money – literally.

So, how do you build a list?

Here’s what you need to build your list:

  • Your Landing Page
  • The Bribe
  • Your Confirmation Page

Your Landing Page – The landing page is the page that has your opt-in form on it. This page is the one that asks them for their email. That’s why it needs to look like a professionally designed page. And it needs to be simple to see how to opt in. And have a clear call to action.

If you fail to make a strong close, you’re wasting your efforts. This “close” tells your visitors what you want them to do. And if you don’t include it, they won’t opt in. Oddly, if you don’t make it clear, people will be confused and end up doing nothing.

One way to really spice up your squeeze page is to make it a video squeeze page. This will grab your visitors attention and keep it. It also allows you to tell them what to do several times. And you can have the video just tell them to fill in your form after it’s done playing.

It’s OK, if you’ve never made a video before. Hiring out-sourced help to do it for you only costs $150 – $250. You can also find ready-made list building tools that give you squeeze page templates.

Your Bribe – The second component is the reason they are opting into your list. People need a good reason to part with their email address. Nobody likes spam, so most people guard their email closely. So make your “bribe” a good one!

The only way to make this work is to provide real value. It has to be something that people actually want. And can benefit from. Here’s some examples:

  • A report
  • A piece of software
  • A video
  • An email training series

It all boils down to content. Something that’s useful and helpful to your visitors. And of course it has to be free. If you make it good enough, they will give you their email in exchange.

If you’re worried about creating this content, don’t be. It’s super easy to hire someone to create it for you. You just pick the topic and they create the training. A 5-part email series is a good freebie. Each email will cost between $20 and $25. So, you’ll get the whole series written for under $150.

There are also list building products that include the follow up email series. Two critical aspects of using a follow up series. The first thing is that it delivers value to your subscribers. And second, it needs to make you money. One very easy way to make some money from your list is with affiliate marketing. This allows you to get started with no products of your own. And make money right away from your list.

Your Confirmation Page – The “thank you” page is the final piece of the puzzle. After subscribing to your list, your visitor is redirected to this page. It’s a great idea to give them some valuable information right on the thank you page. That way, they feel glad that they gave you their email address. It also sets the foundation for your relationship with them. It also makes them more likely to open your emails.

This is another case where you can get a complete marketing package. Or you can do it yourself. And do your own writing for this content. Or have someone ghost write for you.

In closing

It doesn’t matter if you do all of this yourself. Or if you hire people to do this for you. Or go with a complete package. The key is to start building your list. Because once its built… You can basically write your own meal ticket.

Start your own internet business as your New Year resolution for 2010

Posted under List Building

I’ll bet you’ve thought about starting your own internet business at some stage.

Most people have … we’ve all seen how people make incredible amounts of money, seemingly from ‘nothing’, and it all takes place in cyberspace, no premises, no staff, no fleet of vehicles, just one person and their PC.

Or, it’s the dream of working for yourself and having the wonderful freedom to make money wherever you are via an online business that only requires a broadband connection and a laptop.

If you have ever thought about starting your own business on the Net, don’t leave it a moment longer.

Make your New Year resolution that you will finally make a start with your home internet business.

And if you have started already, make 2010 the year it really takes off.

There’s an easy way to do this, and it’s happening right now … but you have to get in quick!

You need to check out the New Year Giveaway at http://new-jv-talent.com/go/140

A Giveaway event is a great way to launch your online career.

Here’s how they work:

# A host sets up and advertises a Giveaway event – in this case the host’s name is Paul Teague

# Existing Internet Marketers sign up and add their ‘gifts’ to the Giveaway … these are usually e-books, software packages, audios or videos

# When the Giveaway opens, members (like you) sign up and get access for free

# The gifts are available free of charge to regular members, all they have to do is sign up to a Marketer’s mailing list to gain access

# As well as getting some high quality training materials, members also get to make connections with established marketers who can guide them to web success.

To see how it works, sign-up free at http://new-jv-talent.com/go/140

It really is as good as it sounds, and don’t think for one minute that because products are offered free, that they are of a low quality.

Marketers offer some of their best products in these Giveaways.

Why?

Because they know that if they make contacts with people at the beginning of their web careers, they will stay with them and learn from them long after the first free gift has been downloaded.

It’s a win-win situation, which is why they’re called ‘Joint Ventures’ or ‘JVs’ … everybody wins.

So, let this be one New Year resolution that you don’t break.

Sign up free at http://new-jv-talent.com/go/140 right now, and let this be the year you start your own home internet business.

I wish you every success.

– Jean

By the way, Paul Teague asked me to mention that he is offering free access to his Giveaway training website at http://www.first-jv-coach.com

These free memberships are free only until January 15, 2010, so get in fast before he pulls the offer!

Why Joint Venture Giveaways are the best way to build your list

Posted under List Building

Everybody in Internet marketing agrees that ‘the money is in the list’.

From day one, you need to be capturing leads and then communicating with your sign-ups effectively.

In fact, the list building is almost more important that the website … and you don’t actually have to own a website to start this essential process.

A well-established way of list building is the Joint Venture Giveaway, and you can see one that I’m currently involved with here:

http://www.theinternetmarketinglounge.com/newyearjv

Giveaways dominate in the Internet Marketing niche, but also flourish in other popular niches like Health and MLM/Network Marketing.

The basic process is this:

# A hosts sets up and advertises a JV Giveway event

# Contributors sign up and add their ‘gifts’ to the website … these are usually e-books, software packages, audios or videos

# These gifts are usually offered free of charge, but members have to sign up to the contributor’s email list in order to receive their gift … hence this is a ‘list building exercise’ for contributors

# After a pre-determined period of contributors adding gifts to the site, the doors open, and members can sign up and see what’s on offer

# Usually it’s a downloading frenzy, a trolley dash where you can download e-products for free … and many of them can be resold for profit

# Members are encouraged to promote the JV Giveaway, and incentives are usually given to encourage this

# Credits or commissions are usually awarded for referring people and possibly downgrade penalties if nobody is referred.

Many people sign up to Giveaway events just to help themselves to freebies, and there is nothing wrong with this.

If people didn’t do this, the marketers would not generate any new leads … so a Giveaway thrives on its ‘freebie seekers’.

However, there is no better place to be – if you’re serious about your online business and your list building – than at the front of the queue … and that means being a contributor and taking an active part in a Giveaway.

For first-timers, it’s best to take a free listing … most, if not all Giveaway events, offer a free listing option.

At http://www.theinternetmarketinglounge.com/newyearjv there’s even a ‘Newbies Bootcamp’ which shows you exactly how to create a first listing at absolutely no cost to you whatsoever … and challeges you to sign up your first 10 referrals to convince yourself that this process really works.

Once you’re convinced about the process, having ventured nothing but your time, you can start to get really involved and get the additional benefits of taking an upgrade.

When you do this, you get text adverts and One Time Offers, as well as the ability to list more of your products.

Most Giveaways are so reasonably priced, you only have to sell one of your One Time Offers and you’ll have earned your fee back.

So, what are you waiting for?

Whatever niche you’re in, there’s bound to be a benefit in taking part in these Giveaway events.

Sign-up at http://www.theinternetmarketinglounge.com/newyearjv right  now and convince yourself that Giveaways really are the place to be if you want to build a list fast.

I hope to see your name at the top of the leader board.

To Your  Success!
